Rainband brings moderate falls to SA, Vic, Tas
A pair of active cold fronts crossed Victoria this morning, bringing 10 to 30mm of rain overnight to much of South Australia's southeast, and this morning to western and northern Victoria and northwestern Tasmania. A sharp upper cold trough moved rapidly across the state with the fronts, dropping the temperature at 18,000 feet briefly to -30° and producing thunderstorms, one causing $40,000 worth of damage to a house in Melbourne when lightning struck. Crop farmers in central western Victoria were particularly chuffed, with the rain improving cropping outlooks after a dry start to winter.
