Cold morning in Perth
Windy in SA
Overnight snow in Tasmania
Perth residents shivered in one of the city's coldest mornings for many years. At the airport, the minimum temperature was 0.4°, 7.6 below normal and only 0.2° warmer than the coldest ever August minimum in 58 years of record. At the Bureau of Meteorology's Regional Office site in Perth, the temperature dropped to 1.3. The coldest minimum for any month at the Bureau's Regional Office (the previous record was 1.6 in 55 years of computerised record), however the move to a new and slightly colder site at Mt Lawley a few years ago makes the comparison invalid, though interesting.

An active cold front swept across South Australia this afternoon bringing strong winds to the Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island. Port Lincoln recorded a top gust of 87km/h and Neptune Island, 65km SSE of Port Lincoln, registered 94km/h. The front signalled the leading edge of colder air being swept up over the continent by a vigorous low pressure system, located just 500km SW of Adelaide at mid afternoon. Heavy showers dowsed Kangaroo Island in the strong westerly stream that followed, with Parndana, in the centre of the Island, recording 45mm in the 24 hours to 9am Tuesday.

Light snow was reported overnight from Liawenee and Tarraleah in the Tasmanian Central Plateau.
