Fires continue in SE Qld
Gales hit Lord Howe Island
Gusty winds and another warm, dry day kept firefighters busy again in and around Brisbane. Numerous bush and grass fires were reported in Brisbane, including the suburbs of Keperra, Alexandra Hills, Belmont, Upper Kedron, Redbank, Raceview and Moorooka. Farther north, fires were burning at Caboolture, Eatons Hill and Narangba, while the Bruce Highway was partly closed north of the Bribie Island turnoff for part of the day due to poor visibility in smoke.

A deepening low crossing the central Tasman Sea brought 8 hours of galeforce winds to Lord Howe Island during the day. Average winds peaked at 83km/h several times during the morning.
