Strong winds bring dust storms to SA
Widespread rain in NSW
Tightening isobars ahead of a sharp surface trough produced strong, squally winds over South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania today. Widespread dust storms were reported from northern South Australia, where Coober Pedy automatic weather station recorded a gust of 104km/h shortly before 2pm.

A broad complex of rain and storms began moving slowly across NSW during the day, continuing into Saturday. See story 14 October 2000
