"One in a hundred year" storm floods Brisbane and SE Qld

Major storm floods Brisbane and SE Qld
A storm system dumped 200 to 300mm of rain on a 150km strip of SE Qld from the Gold Coast and Logan City north to Nambour this afternoon and evening. Little warning could be given of the unusual storm, which took one life, caused widespread flash flooding, brought down trees and powerlines, and paralysed the city of Brisbane for much of the night. Special report.

Floods approach record levels on NSW N Coast
Major flooding continued from 9 to 12 March on the NSW North and Mid North Coasts. With most of the region isolated and thousands evacuated, Kempsey experienced its highest flood since 1949, and Grafton came within 15cm of equalling its record flood of 1890. Special report.

Heat continues in SA, Vic
Hot, dry weather continues in southern SA and western Victoria. Maximum temperatures today were 8 to 15 above normal in coastal areas in South Australia and western Victoria.
