About Australian Weather News
Isolated heavy storm falls in SE Qld
Continuing cold and windy in Tasmania
Very isolated storms nevertheless gave some heavy falls in SE Qld and central northern NSW overnight. They were generated by uplift ahead of the cool change that swept across Tasmania and Victoria yesterday. Biloela, 200km WNW of Bundaberg, registered 56mm in less than 3 hours to 6am. Thangool and Mt Mowbullan, also in SE Qld, reported 59 and 63.6mm respectively for the day ended 9am.

Strong, dry southwesterly winds swept Tasmania overnight and today with top gusts to 106km/h at Maatsuyker Island off the state's south coast. Due to the low humidity, there were no reports of snow despite sub-zero temperatures overnight in the highlands, though a light dusting of snow is likely to have fallen on higher peaks.
