Front brings gales to Vic, Tas after warm night
Heavy rain in NE NT
A strong cold front crossing Victoria and Tasmania brought gusty winds and short-lived gales to exposed areas in both states today. High wind readings are given below. Overnight temperatures in Victoria and southern NSW ahead of the change were unusually mild with many readings 8 to 12 above normal.

The monsoon trough drifted north across Arnhem Land today bringing brief torrential rain to the far northeast of the area. Gove Airport recorded 133mm for the 24 hours to 9am Monday, of which 69 fell between noon and 6pm and a further 57 between 9pm and midnight. During the same 3 hours, Narawili, on Elcho Island, recorded 61mm.
