Cold, wet in SW WA
Perth had its coldest day in 18 months today as wet, windy weather spread across southern WA. The temperature at Perth Airport reached only 13.4°, 8.1 below normal. Between 10 and 25mm of rain fell for the day ended 9am around Perth, and along the southern coast east to about Albany. Similar amounts were recorded in the same areas for the day ended 9am Sunday as rain continued through much of the day in a brisk SW airstream which turned colder southerly later in the afternoon. Sleet was forecast on the Stirling Ranges NE of Albany, and may well have occurred with late afternoon temperatures at lower level stations around 6 to 10°.
