"Warm wave" breaks records in Vic, Tas
Today was the warmest June day in nearly half a century across parts of Victoria and Tasmania. In Melbourne, the temperature rose to 20.9°, the highest reading for June since 1957, while a number of weather stations with shorter periods of record around Melbourne, and on Flinders Island and Tasmania, set new June highs (see below.) A prolonged period of deep northwesterlies has swept warm tropical air over the southeast of the continent.
