Snow closes roads around Guyra
Unseasonable rain in WA Kimberley
Good rains continue in SW WA, SE NSW
Moderate falls of snow closed roads around Guyra on the NSW Northern Tablelands this morning, including the main New England Highway. Snow was reported blocking the Highway at Devils Pinch, Guyra and Ben Lomond from around midnight to late morning. The Guyra weather observer reported 7cm snow depth at 9am, from snow that started falling yesterday morning, then resumed after a spell late yesterday evening.

A cloudband feeding onto the northwestern Kimberley shoreline in WA brought some unusually heavy falls for the area for July today. West Roebuck, 30km inland from Broome, recorded 30mm between midday and 2pm for a 24-hour total of 35mm, while Cygnet Bay, 170km NE of Broome, recorded 25.8mm over the 2 days ended 9am Tuesday. Falls this heavy are unusual in the dry season, with Broome Airport's heaviest July one-day fall in 60 years being only 55mm, and the month's average rainfall only 5mm.

Southern WA's rainy spell continued today, moving east to give falls of 25mm or more around and east of Albany. Hopetoun, on the coast 250km east of Albany recorded 22mm in the 6 hours to 3am. The NSW South Coast continued to enjoy steady rain as a weak but bounteous low dropped up to 50mm on the coast south from about Jervis Bay today. Ulladulla recorded 23mm between midnight and 3am, while Point Perpendicular Lighthouse gauged 20mm in the 3 hours to 6pm. Moderate falls again spread inland to the dry southern Monaro, with Bombala AWS recording 27mm between noon and 9pm. Mt Darragh, 25km NE of Bombala, has recorded 165.6mm in the 4 days ended 9am Tuesday.
