Gales across southern Australia
A secondary low pressure system that developed southwest of Adelaide yesterday moved through Bass Strait today bringing gale force winds to coastal and mountain areas in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. Wilson's Promontory reported gusts to 117km/h with a sustained (10 minute average) windspeed of 96km/h just after 5pm. During the evening, winds across southwestern WA freshened to gale force ahead of an approaching trough.
