About Australian Weather News

Cold and wet in central southern WA
Widespread rain of 10 to 40mm fell across the Murchison, Central West and Goldfields districts in WA late yesterday and today. The weather station at Murchison recorded 21.9mm for the 24 hours to 9am, their heaviest October one-day total in 14 years of computer records. Middle-level moisture streaming in from the northwest combined with a low developing in the WA heat trough near Carnarvon and an injection of cooler southern air yesterday to produce widespread uplift and the rain. The cloud kept daytime temperatures unusually low, with Kalgoorlie-Boulder reaching only 12.1° for the day, while Carnegie's top of 14.6 was 17.5 below average.
