| NEWSBITS: An early Morning Glory rolls across the Gulf of Carpentaria Qld |
| NEWSBITS: The first Morning Glories of the year were reported this morning. A succession of three glories, spectacular roll-cloud formations that sweep across the Gulf of Carpentaria in Spring, were reported by the weather observer on Sweers Island, 70km north of Burketown this morning; a main one followed by two smaller ones. The observer, Lyn Battle, told ABC Radio that the formation was one of the most spectacular seen in recent years, despite the fact that the glories are usually at their best in October.''This one was pretty unusual in that normally they're north-west or north-east orientation," she said. "This one was a north-south one so it didn't bring the northerly wind in behind it, it brought south-easterlies and it was the only cloud in the sky at the time." |
