| NEWSBITS: Bushfire worsens behind Cairns Qld; More overnight snow in Tas |
|
NEWSBITS: A major fire west of Mareeba, 40km west of Cairns Qld, was reported burning on an 18km front this morning and endangering the rodeo grounds and communications tower near the town. The fire expanded today after an attempted overnight backburn had to be abandonned when wind direction changed. A second fire farther to the west is giving local firefighters additional worry. On the Tasmanian Central Plateau, light snow fell again overnight for the fifth night in a row. |
