NEWSBITS: Dust storm at Collarenebri; heavy storm on Qld Gold Coast; hail in Sydney |
|
Daytime temperatures were high across Western Australia's wheatbelt and Goldfields today, with Paynes Find and Salmon Gums both recording tops 11.0° above average. Yeelirrie, 175km ESE of Meekatharra, reported its hottest November day in a 28-year computer record with a top of 42.4. NEWSBITS: A dust storm at Collarenebri in NW NSW reduced visibility to 800m this morning. A fast-moving storm that crossed the Queensland Gold Coast mid-afternoon brought down trees and powerlines, cut power to 10,000 properties and injured two people when they were hit by windborne objects. An afternoon thunderstorm in Sydney gave marble-sized hail at St Clair near Penrith in the western suburbs. The hail lasted for about 10 minutes about 3pm and covered the ground. |
