NT, SA: Storms and dust in The Centre

A trough with an attendant low pressure system gave Alice Springs a damaging thunderstorm and raised duststorms farther south in SA. The late afternoon storm in the Alice brought down trees and powerlines, but no damage to property was reported. The highest wind gust at the Airport, which is in open country south of town, was 76km/h, but stronger squalls are likely to have occurred in the township which lies in a gap in the Macdonnell Ranges. Moomba in NE SA reported a duststorm during the afternoon with visibility reduced to 2km at 3pm.
