AUS: Heat builds across the continent

Minimum temperatures were above average across almost the entire continent this morning, with an east-west band across Central Australia recording lows that were 8 or 9 above the September norm. Daytime maxima reached nearly 11C above at Marla and Kulgera, near the NT/SA border, and 9 above at Nyngan in western NSW. Low pressure dominates the continent, and warm tropical air has invaded all but coastal parts of southern Australia bringing increased thunderstorm activity. Unusual early morning storms developed in the trough across SE WA in the early hours this morning, one giving Norseman 16mm around 3am.
