WA, SA, VIC: Heat contracts north and east

A cool front moving into SE AUS contracted the hot airmass that has affected WA and SA over the past few days into western VIC, northern SA and central and northern WA today. In VIC, top temperatures were up to 32° in the northwest, with Horsham's top of 31.5 10.1 up on normal. The heatwave continued in the WA Pilbara, where most locations have recorded maxima 5° or more above average since the beginning of the month. Roebourne has recorded 40 or above on 11 days in the past fortnight -- the town's April average is 35.2.
